There’s something magical about waking up on the water with nothing on the agenda but diving, eating, napping, and repeating. For us—Adreon and Corey—liveaboard diving isn’t just a vacation. There’s something magical about the simplicity of life on the water, where everything you need is just a few steps away. But beyond the incredible diving, it’s the little things that make liveaboard trips truly unforgettable. From the sunrises to the crew camaraderie, here’s why we love liveaboard diving and how you can make the most of your next adventure.
🐠 Why We Love Liveaboard Diving
Adreon’s Highlights
For me, one of the most memorable parts of liveaboard diving is the little luxuries that make life on the boat feel extra special. Take warm towels after a dive—while not every liveaboard offers them, when they do, it’s like a hug for your soul. I also love the “dive, dive, dive” rhythm. There’s something incredibly freeing about not having to think about anything except getting ready for the next dive. And let’s not forget the food—especially the between-dive snacks, which always seem to hit the spot. Waking up early to catch the sunrise from your cabin is another quiet, beautiful moment that feels uniquely liveaboard.
Then there’s the disconnect from the digital world. No phones, no emails—just the ocean and the people you’re sharing it with. It might feel a little unsettling at first, but once you settle in, there’s a deep sense of peace in being fully present, surrounded by nothing but water, sky, and the rhythm of the dives.
Corey’s Highlights
For me, liveaboard diving is about maximizing time underwater. The best part? Unpacking once and getting right to the dives. You’ve got everything you need right there on the boat: gear, food, and dive sites that are often only accessible by boat. This convenience means more dives, more time exploring, and less stress. Between dives, you get to see even more sea life from the boat’s deck, which is something you don’t get on a land-based trip. Plus, there’s nothing quite like the cozy feeling of kicking back in a comfy sweatshirt after hours of diving.
One thing I love is that, when you’re on a liveaboard, you really get to know the crew and your fellow divers. By the end of the trip, you’ve shared laughs, stories, and plenty of photos—and those connections often turn into lasting friendships.
🧳 What We Always Bring: Liveaboard Packing Tips
Adreon’s Must-Haves:
- Lots of swimsuits. Dry suit, wet suit… but make it cute. I love changing between dives. Also, being dry is really nice.
- Conditioner and detangler. Boats often have shampoo, but your hair will need backup.
- Dive socks. Totally underrated—your feet will thank you.
- Non-spray sunscreen. We love the spray, but on a dive boat, it gets everywhere—on gear, the deck, other people. Go with lotion. Everyone will appreciate it.
- Games! The crew usually has some, but bringing a new one gets them hyped.
- Clips or a mini clothesline to dry your stuff—limited drying space is real.
- Extra sunglasses. The ocean has claimed a lot of pairs over the years.
- Fresh clothes for departure day. Because nobody wants to travel home in salty sweats…
Corey’s Essentials:
- Vaseline. Trust me. Five dives a day = potential chafing. Prevent it before it happens.
- Extra rechargeable batteries. Charge on the dive deck, never in your cabin!
- Cozy clothes for evenings. Post-dive sweats hit different.
- Neck gaiter, wide-brim hat, long sleeves. Sun protection is key—unless you prefer to hide inside with a book and a snack (also valid).
🌊 Come Dive With Us!
If you’re thinking “okay, this sounds like my kind of trip”—you’re in luck. We host a few liveaboard trips each year!
Most of our trips are best for advanced divers, since we like to explore deeper and driftier spots. But if that’s your jam, we’d love to dive with you.
