Why Travel With GAS’D? Meet the Divers Behind the Adventures

Adreon and Corey, hosts of Global Adventures for Scuba Divers

There are a lot of ways to plan a scuba diving trip—and plenty of companies that can help you get there. So what makes Global Adventures for Scuba Divers (GAS’D) different?

When we created GAS’D, we wanted to build the kind of dive travel company we would want to travel with ourselves.

One that takes the details seriously without taking all the fun out of the adventure. One where safety and diver readiness matter. Where you’re welcomed into the group whether you arrive with five friends, a non-diving partner or completely on your own. And where the people helping plan your scuba adventure are still there for you when the trip actually begins.

Because a great group dive trip is about more than booking a resort, getting on a boat and checking another destination off your list.

It’s about feeling prepared before you leave, supported while you’re there and excited about where you might go next.

That’s the kind of dive travel experience we’re building at GAS’D.

Meet Your Hosts: Adreon & Corey

Hi! We’re Adreon and Corey—the owners of Global Adventures for Scuba Divers, your trip hosts, dive professionals and, very often, two of the people sitting next to you on the dive boat.

We’re also husband and wife, longtime travelers and two people who spend a slightly unreasonable amount of time talking about where we should go diving next.

Corey has been diving for around 20 years and is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer. Adreon started diving as a teenager after falling in love with the ocean through marine biology and later became a PADI Divemaster. Becoming an instructor is next on her list—the plan is already in motion; she just needs to find the right place and time to make it happen.

Between the two of us, we’ve experienced everything from relaxed Caribbean reefs to remote liveaboards, strong currents, cold water, low visibility and plenty of dives where the ocean had completely different plans than we did.

And as much as we love diving, we’re travelers at heart, too. We want to experience the places we visit—not just the dive sites. That might mean trying the local food, learning about the culture and history, looking for wildlife, heading out on a ridiculous topside adventure or occasionally deciding that an afternoon by the pool sounds like an excellent plan.

We also know what it’s like to save for a big trip, use precious vacation time, haul dive gear through airports and fly halfway around the world hoping the experience lives up to everything you’ve imagined.

That’s the perspective we bring to every group dive trip we plan and host.

A Little Recognition Along the Way

We’re incredibly honored that GAS’D was recognized with a 2025 Readers’ Choice Award from Scubda Diving Magazine for Dive Travel.

We’re proud of the recognition, of course—but what means even more is what it represents. GAS’D was built around creating thoughtfully planned, welcoming and genuinely memorable adventures, and it’s pretty incredible to see that work recognized.

We’re still a small company with big ideas about where we want to explore next—and we’re pretty excited about where this adventure is taking us.

How Global Adventures for Scuba Divers Started

GAS’D grew out of our own experiences with group dive travel.

We loved the idea of traveling somewhere incredible with people who shared the same passion for diving. But after joining group trips ourselves, we also encountered a few things that made us think, “We would do this differently.”

Sometimes the organization wasn’t quite what we expected. Sometimes we wished there had been more attention paid to safety, risk management and whether divers were truly prepared for the conditions. And sometimes the group dynamic felt more like a collection of cliques than a community where everyone was genuinely welcome.

For Adreon in particular, the details and safety side were hard to ignore. Before becoming a dive professional, she came from a trail guide background, where planning ahead, assessing risk and thinking through the “What if?” scenarios were simply part of the job. That mindset followed her into dive travel—and admittedly may have made her just a little more risk-aware than the average vacationer.

But we’d rather think through the “What if?” questions before a trip than figure them out when something goes wrong.

Those experiences didn’t turn us away from group dive trips. They showed us how much potential they had.

We wanted to create trips that were thoughtfully organized, where safety and diver readiness mattered, and where people felt welcomed into the group whether they arrived with friends, a non-diving partner or completely on their own.

We wanted great diving, but we also wanted to experience the places we traveled to, find adventures above the surface and give people enough flexibility to enjoy their vacation their own way.

So we decided to build the kind of group dive travel experience we had been looking for ourselves.

That’s how Global Adventures for Scuba Divers was born.

Our Mission

Our mission is pretty simple: to make incredible dive adventures easier to experience, safer to explore and a whole lot more fun to share.

We want to take some of the stress out of planning big scuba diving trips while creating a welcoming community where people can explore the world, grow as divers and experience destinations they may never have tackled on their own.

That means thoughtful planning, honest conversations about diver readiness, responsible travel, clear communication and being there when our travelers need us—before, during and after the trip.

Because when you choose to travel with GAS’D, you’re trusting us with more than a reservation.

You’re trusting us with your vacation time, your money, your safety and, very often, an adventure you’ve been dreaming about for years.

We take that seriously—even if we don’t always take ourselves too seriously.

We Don’t Just Pick a Destination—We Build the Experience

We start with places and experiences we genuinely want to do ourselves. But choosing the destination is only the beginning.

Whenever possible, we scout our trips ourselves.

Sounds fun, right? And it is. 😂 But scouting a destination involves a lot more than going on vacation and deciding we liked it.

We’re looking at the diving, the operation, accommodations, transfers, food, logistics, safety procedures and all the little details that can affect a group once we arrive. We’re asking a lot of questions, setting expectations with our partners and figuring out what the experience will actually look like for our travelers. Depending on the destination, that might mean a dive resort, a private bungalow or a liveaboard diving adventure.

And sometimes we discover something that isn’t quite up to our standards.

That’s exactly why we scout.

If something needs to change, we’d much rather discover it ourselves and adjust the itinerary, accommodations, logistics or expectations before our group gets there.

Curated Means More Than a Dive Package

We’re also not necessarily booking an off-the-shelf dive package and reselling it.

We work with our partners to build GAS’D experiences, and that can mean additional value or inclusions that you may not find if you booked the same destination independently. Depending on the trip, we might incorporate extra diving, meals, transfers, topside experiences or other details that make the overall adventure easier or more complete.

The exact inclusions vary from trip to trip, but the goal is the same: to create a package that makes sense for the way divers actually travel.

That applies to where we stay, too.

Whenever possible, we look for accommodations that are genuinely dive-friendly—places where dealing with wet gear, cameras, early dive mornings and all the other realities of a scuba vacation doesn’t feel like an afterthought.

And we’ll admit it: we’re big fans of bungalows and cabins.

They often give travelers a little more room to spread out, more privacy and their own space to retreat to after a full day of diving and adventures.

We don’t choose every property or itinerary the same way because every destination is different.

But we’re always asking the same question: Would we be excited to spend our own vacation time and money on this experience?

If the answer isn’t yes, we’re not done planning.

What Our Travelers Notice

Sometimes all of that behind-the-scenes work isn’t particularly glamorous—but our travelers notice the difference.

After joining us in Fiji, Vic described feeling at ease throughout the experience and specifically highlighted our communication, planning and logistics:

“Their communication, attention to detail, and logistics are unmatched.”

We’re With You Before, During & After the Trip

For us, hosting a GAS’D adventure doesn’t start when you arrive at the resort—and it doesn’t end the moment everyone heads to the airport.

We’re with you throughout the experience.

Before We Go

Communication starts soon after you book.

As the trip gets closer, we help you work through the details of getting there and back, answer questions about the destination and diving, share important trip information and make sure you know what to expect.

We also want to get to know you.

What kind of diver are you? How do you like to travel? Are you coming solo? Do you need a roommate? Is there something you’re nervous about? Are you celebrating a birthday, anniversary or dive milestone?

We actually use that information.

It helps us think through roommate pairings, potential dive buddies and dive groups, and anything else that might make your group dive trip a better experience.

Before departure, we also hold a pre-trip meeting so everyone can ask questions, go over the important details and start putting faces to the names of the people they’ll soon be traveling with.

While We’re There

Once the trip begins, we’re not handing you off and disappearing.

Whenever possible, both of us personally host our adventures. Sometimes schedules or life mean only one of us can make the trip, but one—or hopefully both—of us is there with you.

We’re checking in with our travelers, diving alongside you, joining the topside adventures and staying in close communication with the resort, liveaboard or local operator.

In fact, it’s pretty normal for us to have an ongoing chat with the resort manager or other key staff throughout the trip.

So if something isn’t quite right, tell us.

Maybe there’s an issue with your room. Maybe you’re uncomfortable with your dive group. Maybe you have a dietary concern, aren’t feeling great about a particular dive or simply have a question you aren’t sure who to ask.

We’d much rather know while we’re there and have an opportunity to help.

And, of course, we’re also there for the fun stuff—the incredible dives, wildlife encounters, celebrations, ridiculous adventures and all the little moments nobody could have planned.

After We Come Home

The trip may be over, but we don’t just disappear when everyone gets on the plane.

We wrap things up, share photos and memories, check in with our travelers and ask for feedback about the experience. And that’s something our travelers have noticed, too.

After traveling with us to Roatan, Greg summed up the experience pretty perfectly:

“They were actively engaged and in contact from the time the trip was booked, and even until all in the group had made it safely home.”

— Greg, Roatan

That feedback matters. We want to know what you loved, what could have been better and what we should think about differently the next time we visit a destination.

And very often, the conversation quickly turns into:

“Okay… where are we going next?”

That’s one of our favorite parts.

Because the goal was never simply to fill a boat for a week and then start over with a completely new group of strangers.

We’re building a community of people who want to keep exploring the world together.

The Right Trip for the Right Diver

Not every scuba diving trip is right for every diver—and that’s okay.

Some destinations offer relaxed reef diving that’s fantastic for newer divers. Others may involve strong currents, blue-water entries, colder water, deeper profiles, challenging conditions or several dives a day.

A certification card alone doesn’t always tell us whether someone is ready for a particular adventure.

That’s why we look at the bigger picture: your training, experience, recent diving and, just as importantly, your comfort level.

We’ll be upfront when we recommend Advanced Open Water, Nitrox, a certain number of logged dives or experience in particular conditions. Those recommendations aren’t there to make a trip sound more exclusive—they’re there because we want you to feel comfortable and actually enjoy the diving once you’re there.

And if you’re not quite ready for a trip yet, that doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t go.

We may be able to help you get there.

As dive professionals, training is another part of what we do. Depending on what you need, we may be able to help with additional certifications, skill development or simply getting more comfortable in the water before a bigger adventure.

Sometimes the answer is, “Absolutely—you’ll love this trip.”

Sometimes it’s, “Let’s get you a little more experience first.”

And sometimes it’s, “Let’s work on a few things so you feel ready when we get there.”

Our goal isn’t to put every diver on every trip.

It’s to help you choose—and prepare for—a scuba adventure where you can dive safely, confidently and actually have fun doing it.

More Than Just the Diving

We obviously care a lot about what happens underwater.

But if we’re traveling halfway around the world, we want to experience the place we’re visiting, too.

That’s something we intentionally consider when planning GAS’D adventures. What’s there to see above the surface? Can we experience the local culture, history or wildlife? Is there an incredible hike, a unique excursion or something completely unexpected worth adding to the adventure?

Sometimes that means whitewater rafting in Fiji, exploring waterfalls and hot springs in Dominica or heading out in search of wildlife. Other times, the best plan might be absolutely no plan at all.

Because this is still your vacation.

We love creating opportunities to explore beyond the dive boat, but we also look for trips where there’s room to slow down, skip an activity, book a spa treatment or simply enjoy where you are.

And on a number of our adventures, non-divers are welcome, too. We look for destinations where they can have an incredible experience of their own rather than simply waiting around for everyone else to finish diving.

For us, the diving may be the reason we first discover a destination. But it’s rarely the only reason we fall in love with it.

Community Without the Forced Fun

One of our favorite things about GAS’D has become the community growing around our trips.

We’ve watched people arrive knowing almost no one and leave with new dive buddies, new friends and plans to travel together again. After traveling with us in Fiji, one traveler described the experience as “making memories with a new Fiji family.”

We love that. But we’re also not interested in forcing it.

You don’t have to attend every dinner, happy hour or group activity. You don’t have to spend every surface interval socializing. And you certainly don’t have to participate in organized fun just because someone put it on an itinerary.

Some travelers jump into everything. Others need a little more downtime. Most of us are probably some combination of the two depending on the day.

What matters to us is that everyone feels welcome, whether you arrive with five friends, a non-diving partner or completely on your own.

We want to create the opportunity for community—not manufacture it.

And if the idea of joining a group of people you don’t know sounds a little intimidating, we’ve written an entire guide to group dive travel and why it can be such a great way to explore the world.

Travel With Curiosity—and Respect

One of the best parts of scuba diving is getting to experience places and wildlife most people will never see.

We don’t take that privilege lightly.

We believe incredible wildlife encounters should happen on the animal’s terms. That means respecting local regulations and marine protected areas, giving wildlife space, listening to local guides and choosing operators that take responsible diving seriously.

But responsible dive travel is about more than following the rules underwater.

We also want to understand why a destination is special—not simply check another animal or famous dive site off a list.

Whenever we can, we look for opportunities to learn from the people who know these ecosystems best. That might mean talking with local guides, learning from researchers, participating in conservation activities or simply understanding more about the marine life we’re hoping to encounter.

Our travels have already given us opportunities to support coral restoration, learn alongside marine researchers and contribute observations and identification photos from some of the animals we’ve encountered.

And we’re still learning, too.

Because the more time we spend underwater, the more obvious one thing becomes:

These places are incredible—and we want them to stay that way.

We’re Still Exploring, Too

Here’s something else that’s important to us: We haven’t seen everything.

Not even close.

There are still animals we’ve never encountered, destinations we’ve never visited, dives sitting very high on our bucket lists and places we’re actively researching or scouting for future GAS’D adventures.

And we actually love that.

We’re still learning. Still traveling. Still becoming better divers. Still finding places that surprise us.

Sometimes we return from a trip already talking about where we should take everyone next. Sometimes a destination we’ve been dreaming about finally becomes possible. And sometimes one of our travelers gives us an idea that sends us down an entirely new research rabbit hole. 😂

We also don’t believe that running a dive travel company means we’re suddenly done growing ourselves. There are always new skills to learn, more training to pursue and more we can learn from the local guides, dive professionals, researchers and travelers we meet along the way.

GAS’D isn’t built around pretending we’ve already mastered the entire world of scuba diving and dive travel.

It’s built around being excited to keep exploring it—and inviting some pretty great people to explore it with us.

So… Where Are We Going Next?

Maybe you’re planning your first international scuba diving trip. Maybe you’ve been diving for decades and are finally ready to tackle something that’s been sitting on your bucket list.

Maybe your usual dive buddy can’t come. Maybe your partner doesn’t dive at all. Or maybe you’re simply looking for a different way to explore the world.

That’s exactly why we created GAS’D.

We want to make incredible dive adventures easier to experience, introduce people to places worth traveling for and build a community where you can keep exploring long after your first trip with us.

There will always be another reef to explore, another animal we haven’t seen and another destination calling our name.

The only question is:

Where are we going next?
